Established in 2024, the Leitrim Community Garden Network aims to promote and connect community gardens across County Leitrim. The network facilitates community garden groups in sharing their experiences and expertise, enabling them to work together to address common issues and achieve shared goals.
The network boasts approximately 20 members from all over County Leitrim, representing community organisations such as TidyTowns groups, Men’s and Women’s groups, Residents Associations, and more.
In July 2024, the Leitrim Community Garden Network hosted its inaugural Community Garden Week, featuring open days, workshops, and activities at various gardens across County Leitrim. Our goal is to establish Community Garden Week as an annual event to celebrate the efforts of community garden groups in fostering community participation and engagement, skill-sharing, and environmental sustainability.
One of our initial objectives was to locate and map community gardens in the county. We now have a detailed map showcasing over 18 vibrant gardens, reflecting the rich diversity and dedication of community groups throughout Leitrim. We encourage all community garden groups to get in touch to ensure your local garden is represented and all information is accurate.
